Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan deny drug reports

Football News Staff - 8 Nov 2010
Newcastle United pair Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan have denied having any knowledge of drugs being found in the latter’s home.

The News of the World claimed that, following the 5-1 rout of Sunderland, cocaine had been found in Toon skipper Nolan’s house, which he is sharing with Carroll as part of the forward’s bail conditions after being charged with assaulting an ex-girlfriend.

A statement released on Newcastle’s official website read: “The club notes the story in the News of the World and has passed the matter to its legal advisers.

“Both Nolan and Carroll categorically deny having any knowledge that drugs have been brought onto the premises and are pleased that the paper does not even allege they were aware of the presence of drugs.

“Neither player would ever contemplate taking drugs or condone the use of such substances.

“The club and the players named are sure that if the editor felt his story had any truth he would already have reported this to the police.

“The club and the players named will be happy to co-operate fully with any police investigation.”
