Sir Alex Ferguson: No retirement plan

Football News Staff - 20 Dec 2010
Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson has reiterated he is giving no thought to retirement.

Ferguson became the longest serving manager in the club’s history at the weekend by surpassing the previous mark set by the legendary Sir Matt Busby, and as of today (Monday) the current United chief has been in charge at Old Trafford for 24 years, one month and 14 days.

But the 68-year-old, who performed a U-turn on an initial plan to retire several years ago, insists he is not ready to give up his job.

Ferguson told MUTV: “The older you get the more worried you are about retiring.

“You start to realise that whilst you have got your health and good fitness, you should carry on in your job.

“All thoughts of retirement are in the back of my mind.

“It (saying he was going to reitre) was a mistake. At the time there were some reasons for it. It was one of those things.”
