Ryan Giggs rules out Wales job

Football News Staff - 30 Sep 2010

Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs has ruled out applying for vacant Wales manager’s job.

The 36-year-old midfielder, who won 64 caps and scored 12 goals for his country, was one of the first names linked with the post following John Toshack’s decision to step down earlier this month.

But Giggs admits his United commitments would make it impossible for him to take the role despite seeing former team-mate Mark Hughes take the Wales job while still playing for Southampton 10 years ago.

The Welshman said: “I am playing for Manchester United and am fully focused on that. I just don’t think you can do the two, especially at a club like United.

“I know Mark Hughes did them but it is a little bit different when you are playing Champions League.”
