Manchester United defender Patrice Evra has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2014.
The 29-year-old France international, who has made 226 appearances for the Red Devils since joining from Monaco in 2006, had been linked with a summer switch to Spanish giants Real Madrid in recent months.
But Evra has now put an end to that speculation by putting pen-to-paper on a new deal, just days after veteran midfielder Ryan Giggs committed himself to the club for another year.
And he told the club's official website: “Ever since I arrived at United, it's been a dream come true playing here.
“The fans, the players, the manager and the staff all work hard to make this club the best in the world.
“I've won a lot in the last five years, but I want to win more and I know that's the mentality of everyone here.”
Manager Sir Alex Ferguson added: “Patrice has developed into a key character in the dressing room.
“It's great that he's committed himself to Manchester United. His experience and talent will be increasingly important to us.”
