Manchester United striker Michael Owen has suffered a setback in his return from injury and is facing another couple of weeks on the sidelines.
The 30-year-old forward, who has made just two competitive starts so far this season, was expected to start in Tuesday night’s Carling Cup win over Wolves having recovered from a groin problem.
But Owen’s name was missing from the teamsheet at Old Trafford, with United running out 3-2 winners thanks to a late goal from Javier Hernandez, and the former England international has now confirmed he is facing a further spell out with a hamstring injury.
He said: “I’ve trained for a week and had a setback with another muscle injury.
“I’ve got some damage in my hamstring and will be out for the next few weeks unfortunately.”
