Roberto Mancini gets Patrick Vieira backing

Football News Staff - 31 Mar 2011
Patrice Vieira is confident manager Roberto Mancini can bring success to Manchester City.

Despite spending over £120m on players this season City are out of the title race and crashed out of the Europa League at the hands of Dynamo Kiev earlier this month, and the pressure is now firmly on Mancini to lead his side to a top-four finish.

But veteran midfielder Vieira, who won the Premier League with Arsenal, believes his boss needs more time to build a title-winning team.

The former France international told the Daily Mirror: “The ingredients are there but in football you need time.

“But people don't give you time. So that is the pressure, but we deal with it because it's part of our job.

“He (Mancini) is a really demanding manager, demanding in the amount of concentration he expects from his team in training and in games.

“He is always behind the players, trying to get the best of his players.

“We know we can win the title with the team we've got. And on the pitch we have to show that, week after week.

“It's not because you've got the biggest squad that you're guaranteed to win.”
