Roberto Mancini: Manchester City can be second best

Football News Staff - 4 Apr 2011
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini insists his side can finish second in the Premier League this season.

City capitalised on draws for both Arsenal and Chelsea this past weekend, romping to a 5-0 win over Sunderland to leapfrog the reigning champions into third place.

The Eastlands outfit are now three points behind second-placed Arsenal with x games remaining, although they have played more games than the London, and Mancini believes his side are capable of overtaking the Gunners too.

He said: “We can be runners-up. Why not?

“I am very happy because we got three points, moved above Chelsea and are now just three points behind Arsenal.

“It's true they both have a game in hand, but this was a good day for us.

“This was an important weekend for us, too - a big weekend will be when we win something - but it was important, nonetheless.

“I was surprised we won by five goals but I am not complaining.”
