Real Salt Lake v LA Galaxy live preview

David Beckham will captain Los Angeles Galaxy when they visit Real Salt Lake tonight.

With regular skipper Landon Donovan away with the United States national team, coach Bruce Arena has turned to ex-England captain Beckham as the Galaxy look to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2011 Major League Soccer campaign.

The Galaxy boss told MLSsoccer.com: “He’s a logical choice and he’s worn the captain’s armband here before and probably in a couple of other places as well.

“I don’t think it’s asking too much. It’s not too overwhelming for him.”

And Beckham added: “Bruce has asked me to wear it. I’d be proud to wear it. I'm looking forward to that.”

While Los Angeles have begun the season with a victory over Seattle Sounders and a draw with New England Revolution, Real Salt Lake opened their campaign with a 1-0 win over San Jose Earthquakes.
