Los Angeles Galaxy coach Bruce Arena is looking for David Beckham to make an impact in his new midfield role.
Beckham was switched from his traditional role on the right-hand side to a holding role behind Juninho, with Chris Birchall taking the wide position, as the Galaxy ran out winners against Philadelphia Union last time out.
And coach Arena looks set to keep the former England star in that position for Saturday’s game at DC United.
He said: “I think it's about getting him more involved with the team, having a little more responsibility.
“He's obviously a player with quality and experience, and we should throw him right in the middle of everything, give him that kind of responsibility.”
While LA edged past Philadelphia last time out, DC United were hammered 4-1 by Colorado Rapids.
