Kenny Dalglish denies Liverpool contract reports

Football News Staff - 28 Feb 2011
Kenny Dalglish has rubbished speculation he has been offered a long-term contract to remain Liverpool manager.

Dalglish took charge of the Reds for a second time in January after the Merseyside outfit parted company Roy Hodgson, with the deal running until the end of this season.

The arrival of the 59-year-old Scot has inspired a revival that has seen them to climb to sixth in the Premier League, and several players have publicly stated their support for Dalglish being given the manager’s job full-time.

Reports over the weekend suggested Dalglish, the last man to lead Liverpool to the English title, was on the brink of agreeing a new deal to stay on beyond the summer, but he insists that is not the case.

When quizzed by reporters after the defeat to West Ham on Sunday, Dalglish said: “If there is any news to be told we'll tell you.

“I'm happy to be here, I'll do what I've got to do for the club that means an awful lot to me.

“There's never been a discussion other than the first ones so I'm not sure where they (the Sunday newspaper) have got that from.”
