Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish is remaining coy about Andy Carroll’s chances of facing Manchester United on Sunday.
A thigh injury has meant Carroll is yet to make his Reds debut since joining from Newcastle United in a club-record £35m deal on the final day of the January transfer window.
However, the 22-year-old has been training with his team-mates this week and there have been some suggestions that he could feature against United, as Liverpool aim to bounce back from the disappointing defeat at West Ham last time out.
But when quizzed about Carroll’s availability, Dalglish said: “Who we have and what we go with we don't know and that includes Andy Carroll.
“Andy's training is always progressing, but it's not progressed into a game yet. We said all along that we've been delighted with his progress.
“There's nothing that he's done that's not been encouraging. Whether he's involved on Sunday or not I'm sure Fergie would love to know.
“We don't know, so if he knows he's a better guy than us. He might not even be a substitute.”
