Joe Cole believes Liverpool forward Andy Carroll can emulate and the surpass Chelsea star Didier Drogba.
The Reds splashed out a club-record £35m to sign Carroll from Newcastle United at the end of the January transfer window, and the 22-year-old striker is beginning to find his feet at Anfield after a thigh injury delayed his debut.
Carroll’s burgeoning reputation was further aided by a fine goal for England in Tuesday night’s friendly against Ghana, and Cole claims he sees a likeness with former Chelsea team-mate Drogba.
The 29-year-old told LFC Weekly: “He's very much like Didier Drogba.
“Andy's 22 - we all know what a cracking player Didier is, but he wasn't playing at this level at that age.
“There's still a lot of developing for Andy to do so he can get better and better.
“He's a good lad and I think you'd have been hard pressed to have found two better signings in January than Andy and Luis Suarez.”
