Dirk Kuyt 'sorry' to Liverpool fans

Football News Staff - 4 Oct 2010

Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt has apologised to the club’s supporters following Sunday’s dismal defeat to Blackpool.

The Reds are third-from-bottom after seven Premier League games, making it their worst start to a season in over 50 years.

And Liverpool’s 2-1 loss to the top-flight newcomers is yet another humiliating result on home turf, with League Two side Northampton dumping them out of the Carling Cup at Anfield last month.

But Kuyt has offered no excuses and is adamant the players will be doing all they can to turn their season around.

He said: “It’s probably one of the hardest defeats I’ve had to take since I’ve been here and we’re sorry for the fans.

“The first thing we have got to do is make sure we start winning games again and then we can begin to take things from there.”
