Chelsea chairman Bruce Buck will welcome Liverpool’s prospective owners – but only if their intentions are right.
New England Sports Ventures, the owners of Major League Baseball giants Boston Red Sox, are hoping to complete a £300m takeover of the struggling Merseyside giants.
And Buck hopes the American group learn from the mistakes made by current Reds owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks.
He said: “If they are in the position to recognise history and traditions of what they are buying then I’d say lets welcome them with open arms.
“I think you need to build up a relationship with the fans groups. I don’t think they (Gillett and Hicks) listened to the fans. It wasn’t just the leverage of debt.”
