Roma forward Francesco Totti believes Sunday’s visit of Bari to the Stadio Olimpico is a must-win Serie encounter.
Roma begin Sunday’s schedule in ninth place, 10 points behind current scudetto pace-setters AC Milan after 15 rounds of fixtures.
And having seen Roma ensure they will be playing Champions League in the New Year with a 1-1 draw against CFR Clij in midweek, the veteran forward has urged the Giallorossi to now put their focus on their domestic campaign, starting with Bari.
The club captain said: “We needed to go through (in the Champions League) and that is the only thing that counts.
“Of course, to concede a late goal with two minutes remaining burns, but now we must look ahead to the domestic competition.
“On Sunday we face Bari and we must clinch three points because the battle for the scudetto is still on and we cannot lose further ground.”
Roma have taken just one point from their previous two outings, drawing 2-2 with Chievo in their last domestic outing, while visitors Bari were handsomely beaten 3-0 by Sampdoria.
