Republic of Ireland coach Giovanni Trapattoni has made a number of changes to his starting XI for tonight’s friendly against Uruguay.
The Irish ran out winners against Macedonia in a Euro 2012 qualifier at the weekend, and Trapattoni is now looking to give some playing time to his fringe players.
Only goalkeeper Keiren Westwood and defenders Kevin Foley and Darren O’Dea will remain in the starting line-up, with Stephen Kelly and Ciaran Clark joining them at the back.
Kelly will captain the team in the absence of the experienced quartet of Richard Dunne, Kevin Kilbane, Damien Duff and Robbie Keane.
Shane Long will start up front after Kevin Doyle suffered a knee injury at the weekend, and he is joined by Wolves forward Andy Keogh.
Republic of Ireland starting XI: Westwood, Foley, O'Dea, Kelly, Clark, Lawrence, Fahey, Green, Keogh, McCarthy, Long.
