Atalanta can claim pole position in the race for promotion to Serie A when they visit Modena this evening.
Second-placed La Dea head to Stadio Alberto Braglia knowing that a victory would send them a point clear of Siena at the top of Serie B, the second tier of Italian football, with seven games remaining this season.
Crucially it would also extend their lead over the play-off places to 11 points, with Novara and Varese looking to pounce should either of the top two slip up during the running.
Modena, meanwhile, are also in the promotion battle and are currently 10th in the standings, just four points off the play-off places ahead of tonight’s game-in-hand.
While Atalanta head into this game on the back of a 4-0 thrashing of Triestina, Modena have recorded back-to-back 1-0 victories over Pescara and Livorno.
