Peterborough United forward Craig Mackail-Smith has been named League One Player of the Year ahead of tonight’s visit to MK Dons.
The 27-year-old frontman has enjoyed a fine season for Posh and has been a key contributor in the club’s promotion push, netting 22 goals so far to top the scoring charts by four goals from Brighton’s Glenn Murray.
And after collecting his award, Mackail-Smith said: “This is my proudest moment in football.
“I have worked my way up from non-league and with the quality of players in npower League 1, to be named the best player in the division is just fantastic.”
Peterborough are currently third in the table and could go second if they claim three points tonight, while hosts MK Dons will be looking to cement their spot in the play-off places.
