Lyon host Lens on Sunday knowing that a victory will move them into Ligue 1’s top three.

Lyon, who currently sit in the Europa League qualifying place, head into their 30th league game of the season a single point behind third-placed Stade Rennais.

And their bid to qualify for next season’s Champions League received a boost on Saturday when Rennais slumped to a surprise 2-0 defeat at the hands of Brest on Sunday.

Now Claude Puel’s men can leapfrog Rennais if they collect three points from today’s game-in-hand against a Lens side that are languishing in the relegation zone, seven points from safety.

While Lyon were held to a 2-2 by Nice in their most recent outing, while Lens suffered a 1-0 defeat to Marseille last time out.
