Augsburg head to Karlsruher tonight knowing they must claim three points if they are to keep their title bid alive.
Second-placed Augsburg are six points behind 2. Bundesliga leaders Hertha Berlin heading into their 30th game of the campaign, but Jos Lihukay’s side do have a game-in-hand and that is tonight’s trip to struggling Karlsruher.
Therefore a victory is imperative for them to close the gap to just three points and keep the pressure on Berlin over the final four rounds of fixtures, although second place would be enough to secure their promotion to the Bundesliga.
Karlsruher, meanwhile, are languishing just above the relegation zone, one place and two points clear of the relegation play-off spot and just four points clear of the drop zone itself, so they will be desperate to pick up some points from this one.
While Augsburg head into this game on the back of a goalless draw with fellow promotion hopefuls Greuther Furth, Karlsruher will be looking to end their three-match winless run, although they have drawn their last two outings.
