Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo has given coach Quique Sanchez Flores a vote of confidence ahead of Saturday’s game against Deportivo La Coruna.
Atletico have lost three successive matches in all competitions, with the 3-2 defeat to Aris Thessaloniki leaving them in serious jeopardy of seeing their Europa League reign ending at the group stage.
And in La Liga, the 2-0 reverse to Levante last weekend has seen them now drop to eighth in the standings, but Cerezo insists Flores is safe.
He said: “I don’t like to talk of crisis, it doesn’t exist among the fans, the board, the coach or the club.
“Of course Quique Sanchez Flores continues to have all of the club’s confidence. I trust in the coach and the squad, and they are the ones who have to get us through this.
“We are going through a bad run of form. We must try to be more consistent and achieve what we all want to achieve – victories.”
But while Atletico toil, Deportivo arrive at Riazor in a fine run of form that has seen them lose just one of their last eight matches in all competitions, with their latest outing a 1-0 win over Hercules.
