Sevilla midfielder Renato insists his team are not out of the running for a Champions League berth.
Sevillistas are seventh in the La Liga standings heading into their 30th game of the campaign, and they are 12 points Villarreal in the final qualifying berth for a place among Europe’s elite next season.
However, Renato is not giving up on closing that gap, but he admits Sevilla will need help from other teams over their remaining eight rounds of games following this weekend.
He said: “We need some luck; we need Villarreal and Valencia to not pick up wins.
“The important thing is to close them down little by little so that at the end of the season we are fighting for the Champions League.
“I definitely think we have a chance - mathematically it's possible.”
While Sevilla have taken four points from their last two games, drawing with Barcelona and beating Valencia, Real Zaragoza will be aiming to boost their fight for survival after a 1-0 defeat to Mallorca last time out left them a point above the relegation zone.
