Getafe midfielder Pedro Rio admits the squad have grown concerned with their alarming slump in form.
Getafe’s dream of qualifying for the Europa League is over following a dramatic reversal in fortune that has seen them take just eight points from 42 since the start of the year, and they are now facing a battle to retain their place in the top flight of Spanish football.
Azulones now face fellow strugglers Real Zaragoza this evening and while insisting it is not a must-win game, Rio admits a victory would be a welcome boost with the team just four points above the relegation zone.
He said: “We are a little worried. We know that with the matches remaining things can become complicated, but we know that we're capable of getting out of this and that we aren't in a last-chance situation.
“At the moment we know we're running a risk if things continue as they have been, but we're calm, we know that if we win one game everything will change.
“The match against Zaragoza is not decisive, but it could be an important turning point. If we win it will put seven points between us and, with the matches remaining, it will be very difficult for them to catch us. It could be an important game.”
Both sides head into this game on the back of back-to-back defeats. While Getafe were beaten 4-2 at home to Valencia, Real Zaragoza lost 3-1 at Sevilla last time out.
