On-loan forward Emmanuel Adebayor has set his sights on firing Real Madrid to the La Liga crown.
Madrid are currently five points behind fierce rivals Barcelona with just nine games remaining but Adebayor, on loan from Manchester City, insists Jose Mourinho’s side can close the gap.
Speaking ahead of today’s game against Sporting Gijon, the striker said: “We must win our nine remaining games to have any chance.
“It will not be easy but if we win them all we will see what happens.”
Meanwhile, Adebayor is making no secret of his desire to make a permanent move to the Bernabeu this summer.
The former Togo international added: “This club is fantastic, the environment, the way you work, the atmosphere is excellent.
“I want to succeed here and if I did not think that was possible it would be very difficult to go out and play.
“I have to keep on playing as I have done and taking the opportunities to score because that's what makes me happiest.”
While Real Madrid head into this game on a four-match winning run, with their most recent La Liga win coming against Hercules, Sporting Gijon recorded a 1-0 victory over Almeria last time out.
