Real Madrid goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek believes former boss Manuel Pellegrini’s inside knowledge will not be enough for Malaga to record an upset tonight.
Pellegrini returns to the Bernabeu this evening for the first time since he left last summer having guided Madrid to a club-record 96 points, only to finish second in the Primera Division behind fierce foes Barcelona.
And while Dudek admits the 57-year-old will be able to aid his side with some knowledge of their hosts, the former Liverpool goalkeeper is confident Madrid’s sensational home record will be extended to 23 straight victories at the Bernabeu.
Dudek told bwin: “Every opponent who comes to the Bernabeu wants to cause a surprise and give it everything to win.
“I think Malaga, with Pellegrini, will know exactly how we work, but at home we are very strong and we are favourites to win.”
While Real Madrid recorded a 2-0 victory over Levante in their most recent La Liga outing, Malaga aided their fight against relegation with a much-needed 3-1 win over rock-bottom Almeria.
