Espanyol coach Mauricio Pochettino believes his team needs 15 points from the remaining 27 to seal a place in Europe.
Periquitos are currently fifth in La Liga, occupying one of the three Europa League qualifying places, and are four points ahead of the chasing pack being led by Atletico Madrid.
And Pochettino thinks another five victories, on top of the 14 they have secured so far, would be enough to ensure their place in next season’s Europa League.
He said: “I don't know how many points we will need. Maybe 58 will be enough, but we have to go little by little.
“If we can get three more against Racing (Santander today), our aspirations will be intact.”
While Espanyol will be hoping to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat to Malaga, Racing Santander will be looking to build on the 2-1 win over Real Sociedad that helped them go four points clear of the relegation zone.
