Barcelona star David Villa was thrilled with Monday night’s 5-0 demolition of fierce rivals Real Madrid.
Jose Mourinho’s Madrid arrived at the Camp Nou with an unbeaten record, but were knocked off the top of La Liga by a dazzling display from Barcelona.
Villa, playing in his first “El Clasico”, netted twice and there were further goals from Xavi, Pedro and Jeffren as the Catalan giants replaced 10-man Madrid, who had Sergio Ramos dismissed late on, at the summit.
And a delighted Villa said: “It’s been a very important win. We looked for the victory and we got it.
“And the manner in which we achieved it, you cannot ask for more.
“We are two points clear. We need to continue working hard. We are in November. Just as before the game nothing was lost, now neither have we won anything.
“We have an advantage but we need to continue working.”
