In-form forward Karim Benzema is keen to continue his scoring run when Real Madrid visit Atletico Madrid tonight.
Benzema had struggled to make an impact since making a £30m switch from Lyon in 2009, but the Frenchman has been give a new lease of life to ease Jose Mourinho’s attacking problems.
Injuries have left Mourinho with only Benzema and on-loan Emmanuel Adebayor as recognised senior strikers, and the former has weighed in with nine goals in his last seven games to help keep Madrid in the title race and in the Champions League.
And speaking ahead of the short trip to Vicente Calderon Stadium, the 23-year-old told Onda Cero: “Now I have some luck and my team-mates are giving me a lot of balls to score goals.
“Mentally and physically I’m very well, but I’m going to continue working to be a success here. Hopefully this situation will continue as it has been.”
While Real Madrid head into this game on a four-game winning run in all competitions, Atletico Madrid were held to a 2-2 draw at Almeria last time out.
