Fulham forward Bobby Zamora has undergone a successful operation on his broken leg.
The 29-year-old England international was injured during Saturday’s 2-1 win over Wolves, falling awkwardly during a challenge by Karl Henry.
Zamora, who only penned a new four-year deal last Friday, needed oxygen on the pitch before being stretchered off and taken to hospital.
It has now been confirmed that the player broke a fibula and also suffered ligament damage, which means he could be sidelined for more than four months.
A statement on Fulham’s official website read: “(Sunday morning), Bobby Zamora underwent an operation on the injury sustained in Saturday’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“The operation was viewed as successful by the surgeon and the fracture to the fibula was repaired, ligament damage was also discovered and repaired during the operation.”
