Fulham have been rocked by an injury to Philippe Senderos on the eve of the new Premier League campaign.

The Switzerland international defender is facing six months on the sidelines after rupturing his Achilles tendon during training on Wednesday.

Swiss coach Ottmar Hitzfeld said: "It’s an unbelievable setback for Philippe, a terrible blow for him, his club and also for the national team."

The 25-year-old, who only joined the Cottagers from Arsenal in June, is now expected to undergo an operation by the same surgeon who treated former England midfielder David Beckham earlier this year.
