Fulham have rubbished reports claiming goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer has handed in transfer request.

The 37-year-old Australian was the subject of a failed £2m bid from Arsenal earlier this summer, and newspaper reports say he has asked to quit the club in order to play Champions League football.

But new manager Mark Hughes is determined to hang on to former Middlesbrough man Schwarzer, and a Cottagers spokeswoman said: “The club has not received a transfer request from Mark.

“He is under contract with us until the summer of 2011 and the manager has underlined his commitment to keep hold of his best players.”
