Fulham will have to look elsewhere for a new manager after Martin Jol confirmed he is staying at Ajax.
The former Tottenham boss, 54, was the strong favourite to succeed Roy Hodgson after reports he was unhappy with the financial limitations posed on him at Ajax.
But compensation talks between the two clubs stalled and Jol has now ruled out moving to Craven Cottage.
He told the Dutch club’s website: “Ajax let me know they didn’t want me to go and I don’t think I can bring myself to leave at this time.
“I came here last summer to be successful, top build a good team and to have fun, and those three things are what I am interested in achieving next season.”
