Tottenham interest 'flattered' Phil Neville

Football News Staff - 9 Feb 2011
Everton captain Phil Neville admits it was “flattering” to be a transfer target of Tottenham.

Spurs made an attempt to land the 34-year-old during the January transfer window but their advances were turned down flat by the Toffees, with manager David Moyes criticising the two bids lodged by the White Hart Lane outfit.

And while insisting he is happy to remain at Goodison Park, Neville admitted it was pleasing to have garnered the attention of high-flying Tottenham.

He told the Merseyside club’s official website: “It is always flattering to be linked with a club like Spurs but there is only one man who makes the decision and that is David Moyes.

“The bid has been turned down so let's get on with the football.

“I am the Everton captain and I love playing for this club. The fans have accepted me and I have taken them to my heart.

“I love it here and when you enjoy playing for a club like I do for Everton, then you are happy to leave everything in the hands of the manager.”
