Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp believes Steven Pienaar would be a “great free transfer” for any club in the summer.
South Africa international Pienaar is expected to leave Everton at the end of the current campaign having so far failed to agree terms on a new contract with the Merseyside outfit.
Spurs boss Redknapp is a known admirer of the 28-year-old and has repeatedly been linked with a move for the player.
And speaking ahead of tonight’s clash between the two teams, Redknapp has once more hinted at his interest in making Pienaar a Tottenham player in the future.
Redknapp said: “If he doesn't sign a contract he'll be a great free transfer for someone at the end of the year, if he doesn't stay at Everton.
“He still belongs to Everton, so it's a difficult one.
“They are still trying to keep him. We'll wait and see what happens.”
