Marouane Fellaini done for rest of season

Football News Staff - 2 Mar 2011
Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini will miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.

The Belgium international aggravated the problem during the victory over Sunderland at the weekend and was subsequently left out of the team that crashed to a 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Championship side Reading on Tuesday night.

Now Toffees manager David Moyes has confirmed that Fellaini will undergo surgery to treat the problem, bringing an early end to his 2010/11 campaign.

The Scot said: “Marouane is going to be out for the season now, he will have an operation on Monday.”

And Everton have been dealt a further blow as they battle against relegation from the Premier League, with influential midfielder Tim Cahill facing at least two weeks out with a foot injury.

Moyes added: “Everybody who has watched us will tell you he has been a key player for us and Tim Cahill will probably miss two or three weeks as well.”
