FA charge for Everton manager David Moyes

Football News Staff - 13 Sep 2010

Everton boss David Moyes and assistant Steve Round have been charged with improper conduct by the Football Association.

Moyes angrily confronted referee Martin Atkinson at full-time of the weekend’s 3-3 draw with Manchester United at Goodison Park.

The Toffees, who had struck twice in added time to draw level, were breaking forward from a United corner when Atkinson blew for full time just before Phil Jagielka got his shot off.

Moyes said at the weekend: “The two goals were scored after 90 minutes and they’d put up three minutes of extra time.

“He didn’t get his time right because there was more time to add on for the goals and he played three minutes and 30 seconds.

“They had a corner kick and we had a great counter-attack and he blew up with the ball 25 yards from their goal.

“It is a spectator sports with people coming to watch the game and not for him to be the main man and the one who wants to be seen making the decisions.

“That was a terrible decision in my book.”

A statement on the FA’s official website confirmed both Moyes and Round have now been charged and have until September 16 to respond.

The pair have been offered a standard sanction of an £8,000 fine should they accept the charge.
