Everton have been dealt a major blow with the news teenage star Jack Rodwell will be sidelined for three months.

The 19-year-old sustained an ankle injury during the defeat to Aston Villa last month and was forced to pull out of the recent England U21 squad.

The Toffees were unable to diagnose the problem until this week because of swelling around the injury.

But they have now confirmed Rodwell will be out of action until December, with the first game he will miss Saturday’s big clash with Manchester United at Goodison Park.
