RANGERS conceded a late equaliser as SPORTING LISBON snatched a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie.
Kyle Lafferty headed a decent chance just off-target, while at the other end Alan McGregor saved well from Yannick in a goalless first half.
The Gers blasted out of the blocks following the restart and Lafferty’s flick-one put Steven Whittaker through on goal, but the midfielder’s shot was blocked by Rui Patricio.
The hosts looked to have claimed a one-goal lead to take to Portugal when Whittaker headed home a Vladimir Weiss corner, but with two minutes remaining Matias Fernandez met a Joao Pereira cross and directed his header past McGregor.
Elsewhere, DYNAMO KIEV claimed a shock 4-1 victory at 10-man BESIKTAS thanks to goals from Ognjen Vukojevic, Andriy Shevchenko, Ayila Yussuf and Oleh Hysyev. Ricardo Quaresma, who netted for Besiktas, was sent off in the closing moments and will now miss the second leg.
Sidney Sam netted a braced in added time as BAYER LEVERKUSEN romped to a 4-0 win over METALIST KHARKIV, while rising star Christian Eriksen netted as AJAX eased to a 3-0 victory at ANDERLECHT.
A last-gasp goal from Emmanuel Mayuka handed YOUNG BOYS a 2-1 victory over ZENIT ST PETERSBURG, while Oscar Cardozo struck twice as BENFICA came from behind to edge STUTTGART 2-1.
Wilfred Bouma and Ola Toivonen netted late on as PSV EINDHOVEN stole a 2-2 draw with Lille, SPARTAK MOSCOW fought back from two goals down to claim a 3-2 win at 10-man BASLE, and FC TWENTE wrapped up a comfortable 2-0 win over hosts RUBIN KAZAN.
Freddy Guarin scored with five minutes to go as FC PORTO earned a 2-1 win at SEVILLA, while NAPOLI and VILLARREAL played out a goalless draw.
Artjorns Rudnevs was on target as LECH POZNAN beat BRAGA 1-0 and Tomas Nenad netted the only goal in a 1-0 success for CSKA MOSCOW at PAOK SALONIKA, while PARIS ST GERMAIN twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with BATE BORISOV.
