Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou believes the departure of manager Carlo Ancelotti would be disastrous for the club.
Ray Wilkins was axed from his role as assistant manager last week, and since then there has been speculation about the future of Ancelotti, whose contract expires at the end of 2012.
But Kalou is keen to see the Italian, who guided the Blues to the Premier League title in his first season in charge, remain at Stamford Bridge for some time to come.
The Ivory Coast international said: “Carlo is very important to us. He doesn’t put pressure on the players, even when we haven’t won for two games.
“The manager protects the players and that is important. When you play for Chelsea and you don’t win for two games, and the team is under pressure, you don’t want the players to be scared.
“When you are scared it is difficult to perform, so what is good about Carlo is that he has that belief that everything is going to be good if we work hard and train well. And we are still training in the same way, still doing the same things.”
And Kalou added: “Of course the club will win more trophies with Carlo in charge.
“He has shown that because we did it last year. We won two trophies, and this year we are still in three so he is a manager who will definitely win prizes.”
