Chelsea to meet Copenhagen in Champions League

Football News Staff - 17 Dec 2010
Premier League champions Chelsea will face Danish side FC Copenhagen in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Blues coach Carlo Ancelotti will no doubt welcome the draw against a Copenhagen side that will not have played a competitive game for around two months, due to a domestic winter break, when the two teams meet for the first leg in February.

But chief executive Ron Gourlay insists Chelsea cannot afford to overlook their opponents, who are the first Danish team to ever reach the last-16 of this competition.

Gourlay told Sky Sports News: “There are no easy games at this stage, but we will be very careful.

“They have played 10 games so far in the Champions League in qualifying, second to Barcelona, so they're a very, very good side.

“I think they have won something in the region of 16 out of 19 games, so they are bound to be dangerous.

“It's not far to travel, so we're happy.”
