Sven-Goran Eriksson rules out Blackburn move

Football News Staff - 15 Dec 2010
Sven-Goran Eriksson has ruled out leaving Championship side Leicester City for Blackburn Rovers.

The former England and Manchester City boss has been one of the names linked with the Ewood Park vacancy since Sam Allardyce’s surprise sacking on Monday.

But Eriksson, who almost became Rovers boss in 1997 only to perform a U-turn and take over at Lazio, is concentrating on trying to guide the Foxes back to the top tier of English football.

The 62-year-old Swede told the Leicester Mercury: “Everyone wants to get in the Premier League, but I think we can do that with Leicester.

“I’m happy here and I am not interested in any other jobs. I can sign tomorrow for three, four or five years if the owners want.

“But I am sure they want to see what is happening this season and next season – and that’s fair. What the owner wants in that time is the Premier League.”

Meanwhile, new Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is reportedly interested in adding City coach Chris Powell to his coaching staff at St James’ Park.
