Leicester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has rubbished rumours he is hoping to land Thierry Henry on loan.
Reports prior to last night’s FA Cup defeat at Manchester City had claimed the Swede was interested in securing the services of the former Arsenal star, now with New York Red Bulls, during the Major League Soccer off-season.
And while admitting he had contacted the American club about some possible loan deals, the former England coach insisted Henry was not a target of the ambitious Championship outfit.
Eriksson said: “It is not true I made an enquiry about him. Sometimes you get these rumours and there is a little bit of truth. This time, no.
“I asked the manager of New York Red Bulls - Hans Bakke - before Christmas if he had some good players he wanted to give me on loan for two months. He said no. That was it.
“I have not spoken to Thierry or his agent.”
