Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets claims the referee was right to send off Arsenal forward Robin van Persie on Tuesday night.
With the second leg evenly poised at 1-1, but with Arsenal 30 minutes from winning the last-16 tie 3-2 on aggregate, Van Persie was controversially dismissed at the Camp Nou and Barca went on to record a 3-1 victory on the night to progress.
The Dutchman was shown his second yellow card after taking a shot at goal one second after the whistle was blown for offside, and the decision infuriated Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
However, Busquets, who netted an own goal in the game, told The Sun: “Maybe you play better with 11 players but the sending off was fair.
“He shot after the whistle had gone to waste time.”
He added: “Even if we start analysing the referee then we should be the ones complaining more, anyway.
“There was a penalty from Abou Diaby on Messi but all of this is over now.”
