Inter Milan are without defender Lucio for the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie with FC Schalke.
Lucio collected his second booking of the competition during the last-gasp 3-2 victory over Bayern Munich that put Inter into the final eight on away goals, and that means the Brazilian must serve a one-match ban.
In Lucio’s absence, Ivan Cordoba is expected to join Andrea Ranocchia in the centre of the holders’ defence, while last season’s final hero Diego Milito has returned from a thigh injury that kept him sidelined for almost two months.
Christophe Metzelder, meanwhile, could wear a protective mask to allow him to start for FC Schalke despite the defender suffering a broken nose in last week’s Bundesliga clash with St Pauli.
However, coach Ralf Rangnick will be without Peer Kluge (ankle), Klaas Jan Huntelaar (knee) and Mario Gavranovic (abdominal muscle strain) through injury, while Anthony Annan is ineligible.
