Bale is the best according to Capello
Former AC Milan manager and midfielder Fabio Capello has hailed Tottenham Hotspur Gareth Bale as the best player in the world.
Capello, who is the current manager of the England national team, is getting ready to watch his former club attempt to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit in their Champions League last-16 clash at White Hart Lane on Wednesday evening.
Wales international Bale has set the Champions League on fire this season with outstanding performances against Inter Milan and Capello believes no-one can touch him this season and is looking forward to seeing him in action once more.
Capello said: “Gareth Bale is today the number one player in the world.
"He is the only one who can make a difference in the role he plays as he has pace, technique and strength. Those are three qualities it is hard to find in a player who is not a striker.
"Bale doesn't set out from defence like a full-back. He drives forward and when gets nearer to goal he moves infield and shoots with amazing accuracy.
"Bale reminds me of Roberto Carlos, who was born a left-back and who matured physically and in terms of tactical awareness. Carlos was an explosive player and the only one who came even close to Bale."
