Pierre Littbarski has hinted tonight’s clash with Borussia Monchengladbach is a ‘must-win’ game if he is to remain Wolfsburg coach.
Littbarski was placed in charge following the sacking of former England boss Steve McClaren earlier this month, but the former West Germany international has endured a rough start with two defeats.
And now the 50-year-old has suggested he could lose the role if Die Wolfe fail to collect maximum points from their game against Monchengladbach at the Volkswagen Arena this evening.
Littbarski said: “Three points are a must. (General manager Dieter) Hoeness has made it clear to me what he expects.
“We need the points or else he will have to think things over.”
Wolfsburg head into this game on a four-match losing run, with their latest outing ending in a 2-1 defeat at SC Freiburg, while rock-bottom Borussia Monchengladbach recorded a surprising 2-1 win over FC Schalke 04 last time out.
