Werder Bremen v FC Schalke live preview

Football News Staff - 16 Apr 2011
Werder Bremen boss Thomas Schaaf is not expecting FC Schalke to go easy on his side when they meet this evening.

Schalke completed a stunning 7-3 aggregate win over holders Inter Milan in the Champions League this week, and Schaaf was thoroughly impressed with the performance of Ralf Rangnick’s side during the two-legged quarter-final tie.

However, he does not believe they will be resting on their laurels when they return to Bundesliga duty at the Weserstadion.

He said: “When you are in a semi-final or a final, then you can't just say we are going to have a holiday for eight weeks and put our feet up.

“You have got to keep performing game by game and the better you do, the more prepared you are for the knockout matches.

“I assume that they will be able to play to the best of their ability and that is what I am preparing us for.”

While Werder Bremen will be looking to extend the six-game unbeaten run that has left them six points clear of the relegation zone, FC Schalke will be hoping to record their fourth-straight victory in all competitions.
