Schalke coach Felix Magath has urged his team to put their cup heroics to one side ahead of today’s trip to VfB Stuttgart.
Schalke dumped holders Bayern Munich out of the DFB-Pokal this week to book a final showdown with second-tier side Duisburg.
However, Magath is still wary of being sucked into a relegation scrap in the Bundesliga and has warned his side against neglecting their league campaign as the May cup final draws closer.
He told the Royal Blues’ official website: “Reaching the cup final has done us all good.
“I'm relieved we managed to clear the Munich hurdle and I believe we'll be able to play a little more freely in the Bundesliga now.
“We want to go to the final in Berlin with some positive results under our belt.
“In the Bundesliga we have to keep our eye on the teams below us at the moment. We're only six points off the relegation play-off spot.”
While Schalke’s most recent league outing ended in a 1-1 draw with Nuremberg, second-from-bottom VfB Stuttgart earned a much-needed 2-0 victory at Eintracht Frankfurt last time out.
