St Pauli v FC Schalke 04 live preview

Football News Staff - 1 Apr 2011
Ralf Rangnick is looking for a winning start to his second reign as FC Schalke boss when they visit St Pauli tonight.

Rangnick replaced Felix Magath two weeks ago but has been made to wait for his debut because of the international break, and the 52-year-old is now keen to head into next week’s Champions League quarter-final clash with Inter Milan, and the rest of the season, on the back of a victory in the Bundesliga.

He said: “We want to go into the remaining games of the season with three points. I am excited to see how the players play.”

However, Rangnick has warned supporters there will be no quick fix for his mid-table side, adding: “We have worked intensively and the players have been showing a lot of engagement.

“But it has to be clear that I cannot give the team a completely new way of playing in such a short space of time.

“The important thing now is that the team shows some life.”

While FC Schalke head into this game on the back of a 2-0 defeat at Bayer Levekusen, hosts St Pauli will be looking to bounce back from the 2-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt that left them in the relegation play-off spot.
