Felix Magath could be taking charge of Schalke 04 for the final time when they host Eintracht Frankfurt today.
While Schalke have advanced to the DFB-Pokal final and the quarter-finals of the Champions League, but they have toiled in the Bundesliga to currently sit just 11th in the standings, well off the race for a place in Europe next season.
Reports in Germany have now suggested Magath’s reign could be brought to an end on Monday, win, lose or draw against Hamburg, and the speculation has been fuelled further by comments from club president Clemens Tonnie.
Tonnie, who has branded the 2010/11 campaign a “wasted” season, told Schalke’s official website: “We need to have a talk between men.”
While Schalke head into this game on the back of a morale-boosting Champions League win over Valencia that put them in the final eight, their most recent domestic outing ended in a 1-0 defeat to Stuttgart. Eintracht Frankfurt, meanwhile, recorded a goalless draw against Kaiserslautern.
